Don Juan

Don Juan is an ambitious production that mixes historical periods. For over four hundred years, Don Juan, one of theatre history’s most notorious characters, has appeared in Shakespeare, Mozart, Phantom of the Opera, and countless other works. Yet he retains his identity as a hedonistic and unscrupulous womanizer. Don Juan is a figure of the Enlightenment, a deliberate warrior on the front line against moralists and hypocrites. Four hundred years later, the production asks what we learned from the stories of Don Juan—and, perhaps more importantly, what we should have learned.

Directors: Ivar Aakre Moberg and Sebastian Sjøvoll. Production manager: Sofia Borne. Translated by Hanne Hermann.
