Checking the mood …
Get ready for an evening packed with strangled wind instruments and distorted guitar tones in a danceable format. We’re repeating our successful recipe and putting together nearly three hours of live music at the intersection of scorched rock and boiled jazz. Welcome!
The concert will conclude with the unlikely Frankenstein’s monster Dogføkk, where the bands join forces as an octet and play their own material. Bring earplugs—this could hurt!
SUPERFØKK
Superføkk is a fresh, exuberant project that sprawls in inexplicable directions. With a foot in many camps, they aim to break down established genre conventions and create a sound that is distinctly their own. Drawing inspiration from krautrock, jazz-rock, prog, dance music and no wave, expect a show packed with eclectic expression.
Founded in a small, dark studio at Bergen Kjøtt in autumn 2024, they have built a solid repertoire, played numerous concerts at some of Bergen’s biggest venues, won Eggstockfestivalen and released their self-titled debut album, “Superføkk!”, to glowing reviews.
“At times it sounds as if John Coltrane’s children have started a krautrock band. Or as if Kraftwerk were to jazz their way far out into the wilderness, or like the ‘Fun House’ version of The Stooges on a hefty acid trip just as Iggy had disappeared off to the pharmacy.” — iTromsø, Helge Skog, rating: 5/6
“There’s a party in this material. An ‘anything goes’ attitude that serves the result. As if the Canterbury scene has found successors in Bergen.” — Aftenposten, Arild R. Andersen, rating: 5/6
“But the three pieces of Superføkk’s debut album incorporate seminal influences from the local quartet Møster! mixed with James Chance’s no-wave, the experimental math-rock of Black Midi with echoes of the defunct The Thing, and even John Zorn’s Naked City, expressed with boundless, cathartic and surprisingly danceable energy.” — Salt Peanuts, Eyal Hareuveni

DOGMODE
Free rock, heavy riffs, blown-out melodies and power jazz!
Dogmode is a Bergen-based band whose music sits somewhere between psychedelic rock of the 1960s and ’70s, blues and free jazz. A mix of electric and acoustic instruments creates a wall of noise and total chaos, while retaining steady riffs and rhythms. With a focus on improvisation and soundscapes, Dogmode takes you on a musical journey from start to finish. The result is a concert experience blending rock and psychedelic guitar sounds with free jazz and improvised soundscapes. Drawing on original compositions, Dogmode creates a recognisable yet electric and raw sound.
Line-up:
Alfred Wammer — trombone
Arin Myklebost Gran — electric guitar
Ask Viste — double bass
