Checking the mood …
HAPPY BLUE creates its distinctive and beautiful musical universe through a blend of sparkling improvisations and strong melodies. The band sees itself as kin to artists who combine jazz and improvisation with post-rock and indie influences, such as Bad Plus and Moskus. Reksten and Haukedal describe themselves as musical utility players, able to support others while also taking strong solo responsibility. Kristiansen takes a more dialogical approach, offering continuous, delicate melodic and rhythmic comments to the soloists and the songs. Wouter Torringa is a new addition to the group, contributing virtuosic solo passages and painterly extended techniques. Together, they create elevated, rhythmic music.
Uma B. Reksten – double bass
Markus Kristiansen – drums
Martin S. Haukedal – guitar
Wouter Torringa – viola
SOMERSAULT:
Somersault is a band for the present moment. They draw inspiration from post-rock, American primitive guitar, the singer-songwriter tradition, noise, and folk music, using these influences to challenge typical song formats. Their music is unpredictable and captivating, rough and beautiful at the same time, with down-to-earth lyrics and recognizable fingerpicking. With references to Robbie Basho, Tortoise, Harry Partch, Caroline, and Nick Drake, it is never dull and always beautiful. The result is a hypnotic, warm, and raw sound that both moves and surprises. In October 2025, Somersault travelled to Røros to record an album at Studio Martin.
Sune Dommersnes – guitars
Sigrid Undheim Lygren – vocals
Erlend Juliebø – guitars
Doors open at 19:30. Somersault plays at 20:00, followed by Happy Blue at 21:00. Age limit 20; 18 with student ID.
