Don Juan - Auditions til Immaturus sin Hovedproduskjon H26

Welcome to our auditions for Immaturus’s mainproduction for the autumn semester 2026—a timeless staging of Don Juan, as written by Molière and translated into Norwegian by Hanne Herrmann; now directed by: Ivar Aakre Moberg and Sebastian Sjøvold!

Tuesday - 18-21 in "Maos" on the second floor of Kvarteret
and
Thursday - 18-21 in "Speilsalen" also in the second floor of Kvarteret

Don Juan is one of the most notorious characters in theatre history. For over four hundred years, he has repeatedly appeared in works ranging from Shakespeare and Mozart to The Phantom of the Opera and countless other contexts. Despite this long history of reinvention, Don Juan consistently retains his distinct identity and defining traits: a hedonistic, unscrupulous womanizer.

Don Juan promises to be an ambitious production, blending historical eras into an explosive mix. We have plenty of cool ideas, but we need YOUR help! A production is about far more than just actors and a director; we need dedicated people to help us bring this play to life. Whether through costume design, set construction, hunting for props, PR, sound and lighting, or other production roles—everyone is warmly welcome to join! Whether you have absolutely no experience or heaps of it, we would love to have your help! Even though the play will be in Norwegian we will gladly welcome the help from non-Norwegian speakers to be part of this production, maybe in minor roles or as a part of the wider production team. We will gladly take you on!!

Don Juan embodies the spirit of the Enlightenment—a deliberate warrior standing on the front lines against moralists and hypocrites. Now, four hundred years later, we must ask ourselves what we actually learned from the stories of Don Juan—and, perhaps even more importantly, what we should have learned.

Character descriptions:

-Don Juan
A hedonistic womanizer and perpetual antagonist to the norms and morals of his time. The play’s protagonist and a sleazy exploiter of women. He is currently on the run from Donna Elvira.

-Sganarelle
A dishonorable coward and Don Juan’s henchman. He loudly proclaims the standards Don Juan fails to meet, yet falls short of them himself.

-Gusman
A minor role. Donna Elvira’s lackey; he has come to town to find Don Juan.

-Donna Elvira
A former nun seduced by Don Juan and tricked into leaving the convent to marry him. After Don Juan vanished following their wedding night, she has been pursuing him to demand answers.

-Don Carlos
Donna Elvira’s brother and a man of honor. He and his entourage are hunting Don Juan to avenge the wrongs done to Elvira, but he inadvertently ends up indebted to Don Juan.

-Don Alonso
Donna Elvira’s other brother and a bloodthirsty man. He owes nothing to anyone and is eager to commit a crime of honor.

-Charlotte
A beautiful peasant girl whom Don Juan attempts to seduce and woo.

-Mathurine
Charlotte’s aunt; she is likewise seduced and wooed by Don Juan at roughly the same time. Complications ensue.

-Pierrot
Charlotte’s fiancé, an uncharming country bumpkin. He strongly resents the village women throwing themselves at Don Juan but is powerless to stop it. He actually saves Don Juan’s life, though he quickly comes to regret it.

-Francisque / The Beggar
A deeply religious beggar who wanders the woods. -Don Louis
Don Juan’s father, who is fed up with his son’s misdeeds and decides to take action.

-The Stone Guest
A monument erected to a prominent nobleman whom Don Juan previously killed. It has now come to life to haunt Don Juan.

-Monsieur Dimanche
A creditor who arrives to collect the money owed to him!!

-Various robbers, bandits, servants, and angels of death
