In the 21st century, the tech business has grown extremely powerful, largely by moving at a faster pace than national and international regulators can keep up with. In 2020, Denmark created the world’s first tech ambassador position, and in this highly topical documentary we follow ambassador Anne Marie Engtoft Meldgaard in her day-to-day work. With TECHPLOMACY, director Susanne Kovacs paints a stark picture of the challenges that big tech poses to democracy and civil society. At the same time, she also shows us that it is possible to get somewhere by going on the offense and approaching these challenges in new ways.
