When wildfires swept through Los Angeles last year, Tamra Davis had to evacuate in a hurry. Stashed away in a box, she found long-forgotten footage from a 1995 tour that brought together some of the biggest names in alternative rock. In this remarkable documentary, the audience gets to be a fly on the wall as Sonic Youth, Foo Fighters, Beastie Boys, Pavement, Bikini Kill and others perform and hang out backstage.

THE BEST SUMMER is more than a music film, it’s an all-access backstage pass to a bygone era, brimming with nostalgia, melancholy and do-it-yourself punk energy.
