Dua

Being a teenage girl is never easy, least of all when ethnic tensions in your country are escalating into an all-out war. This is the fate of Dua, a shy girl who is forced to celebrate her first kiss by being chased home by the police. As a Kosovo Albanian, she is tired of boys hurling catcalls and slurs at her and turns to her fearless peer Maki to learn judo, in the hope of fighting back. Together they find their own form of rebellion.

DUA is the follow up to Blerta Basholli’s critically acclaimed HIVE (BIFF 2021) and premiered during the Critic’s Week in Cannes. This is an intimate and insightful coming-of-age drama about growing up in the shadow of war.

BIFF screening at Tivoli, Det Akademiske Kvarter. Film starts at 16:50. Runtime: 101 minutes. The listed end time is calculated from the runtime and excludes any introduction or discussion. Standard ticket: NOK 140. Student: NOK 95 with valid student ID. Buy in advance; only full-price tickets are sold at the door at Tivoli.
